While CPB-FLP is unique and critical to the thousands of incarcerated mothers who have no means to pay for legal representation, CPB-FLP, like many other non-profits, strives to expand in an unwelcoming climate for prison programs. To sustain the program, we rely on the loyalty of volunteer attorneys who understand the criticality of our work.
Whether your motivation is driven by compassion or the need to give back, we need your help. Volunteer to participate as a panelist for our prison seminars. Or, you can volunteer to provide direct legal services to selected clients.
The cases we work on have gone through a screening process and only those cases that meet our criteria will be pursued. After the initial review, a detailed questionnaire is sent to the inmate. The information we receive is reviewed by the staff and is forwarded to our Advisory Board members. The Advisory Board decides which cases we will pursue. The case is then assigned to a volunteer lawyer. We will make every effort to assign a volunteer lawyer in the same county where the client was convicted.
Responsibilities of the Volunteer Lawyer:
If you are willing to act as the volunteer lawyer on a case for the Civil Pro Bono Family Law Project, please let us know. Please include your contact information and the counties where you practice.
